Crater Lake
Crater Lake is the most beautiful lake I have ever witnessed, and the most uninviting. Steep shorelines and snow-covered banks awaiting an avalanche ensure that getting back out, if you fell in, and were still able to walk, would be challenging to say the least.

At this point, we were nearest the visitors center, on the west side of the lake, right after the snow had melted enough to allow plows to access the area. It was cold out and there was a faint wind blowing towards the lake.

The tree seen on the right side in this photo seemed as though it had been hit by lightning, as it was broken and partially shattered and missing. With such beauty, comes treacherous life and destruction in the wild.
The lake appeared that day as a sheet of glass, with very little wind across the foreground face. The cropped image below focuses on the lake most of all.
